2020 is a year that will go down in history. No one could have foreseen what challenging, difficult and tumultuous years lay ahead.
At the Tiptree World Bread Awards with Brook Food, we were looking forward to celebrating the best of the UK’s bakers in our usual way but clearly, that was something that could not take place.
As the pandemic unfolded, more and more stories started to emerge in the press of bakers’ remarkable acts of support and generosity to the community, all across the United Kingdom.
It was a source of great support and comfort that our sponsors immediately embraced the idea that the Awards should celebrate the people behind the loaf.
Nominations flooded in from every corner. The stories were by turn moving, inspiring, astonishing and humbling.
