KitchenAid Home Baker Hero 2021

David Stubley, a baker from Edinburgh, has triumphed at the Tiptree World Bread Awards with Brook Food, winning the KitchenAid Home Baker Award.

In addition to being Runner Up in the Scotland Bread Hero category, David Stubley won the KitchenAid Home Baker Award.

During the pandemic, David amassed a huge international following on his ‘Dave Bakes Bread’ Instagram account with his creative sourdough baking. He used the platform to encourage and support home bakers from across the world, from the complete beginners to the more experienced, offering continued support and encouragement.

“I think people wanted to feel they could fend for themselves during the time of crisis,” said David. “Sharing positivity is part of it but I believe in sharing knowledge too.”

One of David’s nominators, Tamara Cobb, couldn’t believe it when David responded to her message asking for guidance. “He kept up correspondence to see how I was getting on with his suggestions. It never felt like I was bothering him, it just felt like he was really happy to be able to share his skill and passion. When I sent through photos of my progress he was really supportive and positive. He really has helped me achieve far better results in my bread baking.”
