Our Partners

The British Society of Baking was founded in 1955 as an affiliate of the American Society of Bakery Engineers. We retain our affiliation and links with the American Society, now called the American Society of Baking, exchanging publications and information, although we operate as an autonomous body.

The primary purpose of the British Society of Baking is to provide a forum for learning more about the baking industry through conferences and associated events, together with networking and the exchange of information and ideas between members.

Members come from all areas of the baking industry and its associated suppliers, including: retail, plant and instore bakeries; ingredient and equipment suppliers; flour millers; research associations; and education establishments. Bakery students and trainees are also very welcome as members. If you are interested in becoming a member of the British Society of Baking please access the membership page of the BSB website for more information and to download a membership application form.

The British Society of Baking website, www.britishsocietyofbaking.org.uk has recently been redesigned to improve its appearance and functionality. Links to Facebook and Twitter have been added, together with PayPal to allow members to make subscription and other payments with their debit or credit cards.

Conference papers cover a wide range of topics, including developments relevant to the industry at particular times and cover technical, legislative and marketing matters. There have been over 550 conference presentations since the founding of the Society. Examples of presentations are shown in the pictures above and below.

Edited transcripts of the presentations at BSB conferences, together with illustrations and photographs, are published for members as a high quality full colour booklet called the BSB Conference Proceedings.

A popular annual BSB golf day is held in the spring at the Forest of Arden Golf and Country Club, which includes a dinner in the evening and presentation of prizes. You will find full details on the Golf page of the BSB website.

An optional conference dinner is held on the evening prior to each conference. Dinners associated with bakery/food exhibitions may also be organised and where appropriate we may also take a BSB stand.
